RICCARDO SCAMARICO
(Manrico)

Actor Riccardo Scamarcio could well be described as Italy’s answer to
Leonardio di Caprio. The 27year-old who has been making films for just
five years, has provoked gushing media attention, inspired hordes of
female fans and, perhaps most importantly, helped to reignite the local box office.
Born in Trani, Italy in November 1979, son of a painter he moved to Rome
at the early age of 16 and studied acting at the Rossellini-founded Centro
Sperimentale di Cinematografia. His career started on the Italian TV series
Compagni di Scuola. However his real debut on the big screen was in the
film by Mario Tullio Giordana The Best of Youth (2003). His breakout role
was in 2004 teen hit Three Steps Over Heaven which lead to the sequel I Want You, for which he was awarded the Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe for Best Upcoming Actor. He starred in the Italian box-office hit Romanzo Criminale directed by Michele Placido (2005), Manuaale d'Amore 2 by Giovanni Veronesi (2007) and Go Go Tales by Abel Ferrara (2007).
Already an international rising star Riccardo Scamarcio is in pre production of his lead role in the new Costa-Gravas film Eden is West. He is also already slated for Ferrara’s next project, a noir film based on the best-selling book Pericles The Black Man by Giuseppe Ferrandino and has recently completed the thriller Colop D'Occchio by Sergio Rubini where he plays the central protagonist, an artist.
